How to Choose Farsighted (+) Colored Contact Lens Prescriptions

👓➡️👁️ Farsighted? No Problem! How to Shop Your Prescription Online 🌈✨

Ready to level up your look with EyeCala colored contacts but have a farsighted (hyperopia) prescription? We got you! This guide makes it super simple to pick the perfect lenses online so you can see clearly and look iconic. 😊

1️⃣ Decoding Your Prescription (The "Plus" Sign Matters!) 📋🔍

If you are farsighted, your glasses prescription will have positive (+) numbers under the Sphere (SPH) column. Here's what that looks like:

Eye 👁️ Sphere (SPH) Cylinder (CYL) Axis (°)
Right (OD) +2.50 -0.50 90°
Left (OS) +3.00 - -
  • ✅ Positive (+) Sphere: This means you are farsighted (hyperopia).
  • ✅ Cylinder (CYL): This indicates astigmatism (usually a negative number).

The Astigmatism Rule: If your astigmatism (CYL) is mild (-0.75 or less), you can totally wear our regular spherical colored lenses comfortably!

⚠️ Heads Up: At EyeCala, we currently do not offer colored lenses that correct both farsightedness (+SPH) and astigmatism (CYL) at the same time. If your astigmatism is moderate or strong (above -0.75), please chat with your eye doctor before ordering to avoid blurry vision.

2️⃣ Picking the Right Power (The Math Part) 🎯

For farsightedness, your contact lens power is usually super close to your glasses prescription. Here is the cheat sheet:

  • ✅ +0.25 to +4.00: Easy! Choose the exact same sphere power as your glasses.
  • ✅ Above +4.00: You need a tiny adjustment. Check the chart below:
Glasses SPH Recommended Contacts SPH Example
+4.25 to +5.00 Add +0.25 +4.50 glasses → +4.75 contacts
+5.25 to +6.00 Add +0.50 +5.75 glasses → +6.25 contacts
+6.25 to +7.00 Add +0.75 +6.50 glasses → +7.25 contacts
Above +7.00 Consult your eye care professional
📌 Pro Tip: If your exact number isn't listed in the dropdown menu, pick the nearest lower power. It's usually more comfortable for your eyes!

3️⃣ Base Curve (BC) & Diameter (DIA) 📏

Don't stress about these numbers too much unless you have very specific needs:

  • ✅ Standard Base Curve (BC): 8.6mm (Fits most eyes comfortably)
  • ✅ Standard Diameter (DIA): 14.0–14.5mm (The size of the lens)
✨ Unless you know for a fact that you need a custom fit, our standard EyeCala sizes are designed to fit the majority of users perfectly.

4️⃣ What About PD? 👀

Good news bestie! Pupillary Distance (PD) is only for glasses frames. You can completely ignore it when buying contacts. 🎉

📝 The "Add to Cart" Checklist:

  • +0.25 to +4.00? Match your glasses prescription exactly.
  • Over +4.00? Use the chart above to adjust slightly.
  • Astigmatism? Only order if your CYL is -0.75 or less (since we don't have toric lenses for farsightedness yet).
  • BC & DIA: Stick to the standard 8.6mm / 14.0-14.5mm.

👩⚕️ Final Vibe Check

Your eyes are precious! Always double-check your prescription. If you have a high prescription or strong astigmatism, it's always safer to ask your eye doctor first. If you're stuck, email our team at cs@EyeCala.com!
