Verify Your Prescription(RX)

Prescription Verification (US Orders)

At EyeCala, we’re all about keeping your eyes safe while you look your best. Because contact lenses are medical devices, US regulations require a valid prescription for all orders shipping to the States. It ensures you get the right fit and keeps your vision healthy.

Don't worry—verifying is super quick. Here is how to get it done:

How to Verify Your Prescription

You’ve got two easy options to get verified with EyeCala:

Option 1: The DIY Route (Fastest)

  • Snap a Pic: Take a clear photo or scan of your current prescription.
  • Upload It: Attach the file on the cart page when you are placing your order.
  • Or Email It: Forgot to upload? No stress. Just email the photo to hello@eyecala.com and include your Order ID.

Option 2: Let Us Handle It

  • Share the Deets: Provide your optometrist's name and phone number during checkout.
  • We’ll Call Them: We will reach out to your doctor’s office to verify the details. This usually takes about 12 hours (we operate on a passive verification system, so if they don't object, your order ships!).

No Prescription? No Problem.

If you don't have a copy of your prescription handy, you don't need to book an in-person appointment just yet.

  • Get an Online Eye Exam: You can renew your prescription from your couch using Visibly. It costs around US$35.
  • Once you get your results, just upload them at checkout or email them to us at hello@eyecala.com.

Decoding Your Prescription

Prescriptions can look like a secret code. Here is the cheat sheet for what those numbers mean:

  • OD: Right Eye (Latin: Oculus Dexter)
  • OS: Left Eye (Latin: Oculus Sinister)
  • SPH (Sphere): The power needed to correct your vision. A minus sign (-) means you are nearsighted.
  • CYL (Cylinder): The correction needed for astigmatism.
  • Axis: The orientation of the astigmatism correction.
  • PD (Pupillary Distance): The distance between the centers of your pupils (crucial for focus!).

Is My Prescription Valid?

Under US law, contact lens prescriptions are generally valid for 1 to 2 years from the issue date, depending on the state your eye doctor is located in.
